1. Not having enough time in between class to wash and dry your clothes.
When it's half way through the week and you didn't utilize the weekend for laundry like you should have, finding an hour and a half in your day can be nearly impossible.
2. Having to walk up and down flights of stairs 4 times for the process
For dorms that have elevators, consider yourselves lucky. The location of the laundry machines in the basement for me, requires a substantial amount of work to haul a laundry basket/bag/ hamper-- whatever you may use, that is probably too full, and lug it up and down stairs.
3. Simply forgetting that it’s there.
Setting timers on your phone sounds like a simple solution to this issue, however that isn't always the case when it is so easy to just say, "nah I'll get it later." Which then turns you into that person who's clothes are just siting there resulting in being thrown on top. To the person who folded my clothes when I was the laundry room asshole, you're the real mvp.
4. Bringing down an overdue load and realizing you only brought 1 pod of detergent with you when you need to use 2 machines.
Detergent pods are the simplest and easiest methods of detergent to use. The worst however, is when you bring down a heaping mound of laundry that now must be separated into two machines (if by slim chance there are two available) and then the trek continues back up stairs to retrieve another pod of detergent.
5. Procrastinating and saying “I’ll do it tomorrow” until you don’t have any clean clothes left
Because of all these struggles of the laundry room, like homework, laundry procrastinates until the last possible minute.
6. Finally making it through washing and drying, and then having to take time to fold and put the clothes away.
As if it wasn't enough switching between the two machines, the time you have to put aside for the cycles, but now folding is another story.
7. Everyone doing laundry on Sunday
Sundays are a catch up day on homework, sleep, and most importantly laundry. However the battle to find a free machine, on a Sunday especially, can be brutal and often not worth the energy.
8. Exiting the laundry room like you're coming out of a sauna
With 4-5 washing machines and dryers all going at once, the moisture and heat in a closet sized room is suffocating. Forget working off that freshman 15, just sit in the laundry room in heavy winter clothing and you'll sweat everything out... if you don't pass out first.
