Laugh Without Fear

Life is too short to focus on the past.

So often you spend your time thinking about the past. How could I have done this differently? Or, What could I have done differently to change this? You often times start to put yourself down, because there’s something you did wrong, right?

Wrong.

This was me for basically my entire life. Every time something bad happens I spend most of my time trying to figure out what I did or how I could have done things differently. But the reality of it is, there is nothing that could have done to change the outcome of the situation. People come and go, but everything happens for a reason.

The more time we spend focusing on our side of things, the more we lose sight of the truth behind it all. We make ourselves the bad guy in every situation that does not go the way we may have originally planned for it to go. We forget about all the factors that contributed to this happening in the first place. We do this so often that it becomes nothing more than a bad habit.

How many times have you lost an opportunity because you were more focused on the outcome that did not go your way in the past? How often have you said, “I can’t,” for no other reason besides you were scared of your past. Every time you’ve used those words for this reason, you’ve lied to yourself. The truth is you CAN, but you choose not to. But its time to bring that to an end.

Proverbs 31:25 says, “She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” There could not possibly be more truth to this scripture. God throws obstacles at us because he knows we are able to handle them. He makes things a struggle for us and changes the path we are taking for a reason. He is consistently giving us new opportunities so that we are able to become the person we were placed on this earth to be. So who are we to say no to the opportunities we are handed because we are afraid of what happened before, when the only reason that happened is so that you could move forward now.

We are strong human beings, and we are consistently given the chance to become even stronger and better people every day. Sometimes we need to take a step back and realize that there is more to the view than what we can see in front of us.So stop dwelling on what happened, and focus more on what could happen. Take every opportunity you can and be happy.

Take chances, live life, and laugh without fear of what’s to come.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
