Summer.
You brought an immense amount of fun, intensity, knowledge, and experience. Now that the warmer months are coming to a close and the focus shifts from summer nights to the fall semester of classes, I say farewell.
After an entire year of new things and new experiences, I needed three months of realization and relaxation (for the most part). To say the least you were a breath of fresh air.
Through the summer I found that some of the best times are spent with those who are your family and friends, not necessarily a significant other or someone of a particular interest.
I found that no matter what we always have time to have fun, even if you are swamped with some kind of stressful situation or occupation. Never turn down a night with your best friend who will soon live 5 hours away from you. And NEVER turn down a night to stay up late and watch TV with your mom.
The summer isn’t always sunshine and beaches, usually it involves a low paying job as well.
Though I disliked the majority of the time spent at said job, the job did allow me to find that dealing with difficult people is apart of adult life itself. The job also reminded me (I worked with younger people) that I am incredibly mature for my age and have more wisdom than I thought.
Summer.
Thank you for the time you gave me. That’s priceless. Soon enough, I will be extremely stressed out about the lack of time or the speed of time, so I appreciate that you gave me time that seemed infinite.
You reconnected me physically with my family and my home.
You’ve brought best friends together after a nearly year long hiatus.
You’ve taught me that time heals all wounds and space brings clarity.
Summer.
You’ve given me so much over the past few months, but now I need fall to come and send in the academic and social stress.
You’ve helped prepare me for the next step and the next season, literally and figuratively.
Farewell, summer.
