One of my favorite things to do in Los Angeles is to grab a late night bite to eat with a few of my friends. College began a couple weeks ago and dining halls might not be 24/7. For those who are new to Los Angeles or looking for a place to eat past midnight here is a list of 5 food places:
1. Fat Sal’s Deli
Open until 3 A.M. If this is your first time going look carefully at their menu because they don’t serve just any type of sandwich and fries. My personal favorite is the Fat Mona, which consists of fried eggs, ham, crisp bacon, sausage, sautéed peppers and onions, melted American and Mozzarella cheese, fries, and ketchup on hero bread. They are currently located in Westwood, Encino, and Hollywood.
2. Stout’s Burgers and Beers
Open until 4 A.M. They serve a wide variety of burgers and alcoholic beverages. The burger section on their menu tells customers what alcoholic beverage compliments each burger. Not only do they serve delicious burgers, but also poutine fries.
3. Leo’s Tacos
Open until 4 A.M. Don’t let the fact that it’s a food trunk discourage you from trying their authentic Mexican tacos. Their most popular taco is the al pastor. The meat is smoky and savory. Their tacos are a bargain at $1.25 each!
4. Diakakau
Open until 2 A.M. This local Japanese chain only serves kurobuta or black pork in their ramen soups because of its tenderness and unique flavor. The moment you walk into the restaurant you are transported to the streets of Japan.
5. The Carving Board
Open until 2 A.M. Their spaghetti and meatball sandwich has a unique twist to it. The buns of the sandwich are made out of spaghetti noodles! All sandwich orders come with a choice of chips or salad. My advice is to choose the chips because they are homemade and perfectly crispy.
6. Wurstküche
Open until 2 A.M. This unique sausage restaurant serves exotic links such as rabbit, rattlesnake, and pheasant. However, if you aren’t feeling adventurous their menu is separated into classic, gourmet, and exotic sausages. Sausages can be topped with opinions, sauerkraut, sweet peppers, or spicy peppers.
