As I write this, the nearest television to me is turned on to MSNBC, not by my own doing, showing a former White House Chief of Staff discussing the upcoming Trump inauguration. Of course, this article will be published after the inauguration, but unless something totally unexpected happens, what I'm saying now will still apply to the post-inauguration period.
I don't invoke my political stance often, but for the purpose of this article, I feel like it'll help readers understand where I'm coming from.
I'm a Democrat, but I consider myself to be moderate. I didn't get too caught up in Bernie Sanders, and I loosely supported Hillary Clinton. I feel that the party really needs to undergo a massive change in order to reshape itself.
But that doesn't mean I'm going to support Trump. Granted, I accept his presidency, but I do not support anything that he stands for. Really, I do wish that he is successful, not because I want to see him become a two-term president, but because the future of this nation rests in his spray-on tanned hands.
So yes, I'm one of those gosh-darned liberals. Yet I'm a liberal frustrated by her own party that could not and did not see the election falling to a demagogue with no previous political experience.
I frankly don't know what to expect from Trump, and for a variety of reasons. I'm no expert on politics, though I'm a political science student. We have literally witnessed Trump equivocating on several issues over the past year and a half. Trump's administration is full of people who will often take opposing stances from both Trump and each other.
However, what I do know is that no matter what happens, this country isn't going to be the same again.
Whether that's a good or bad thing, well we'll just have to wait.
