We’ve all been there; you start thinking about Halloween back in August, then boom: Halloween is only a couple days away, and you haven’t even put together a costume. If there’s no time to order anything or make a costume that will look somewhat presentable, you can still show off a creative costume (that won’t look so last minute). Here’s a few ideas for Halloween costumes that you already have in your closet.
Marty McFly
Go back to the future with a Marty McFly costume. All you need is a plaid button up, a pair of jeans, a puffer vest, white sneakers, and a watch.
A Cat
This is often the typical Halloween costume, but you can use different items in your closet to create a unique spin on this classic costume. You could go for the cat look by wearing a black top and skirt with a pair of colored tights. Add cat whiskers and a nose. A classy Halloween costume for any occasion.
Boo
If you’re a Disney fan, you could go as Boo from “Monsters Inc.” All you need is a pink dress or oversize shirt and purple leggings or tights. Finish off this look with pigtails.
Twenty One Pilots
If you’re a fan of Twenty One Pilots, you and a friend could go as Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph. One wears a beanie, the other wears a snapback hat. Temporary tattoos would also be helpful in creating this look. You and your friend could sip juice-boxes like in the “Stressed Out” music video.
Jo Stockton
If you’re an old movie fan like me, you could go as Jo Stockton from the movie “Funny Face.” A black shirt, black pants, white socks, and black loafers will automatically give you those Audrey Hepburn vibes.
Arthur
Arthur may become a more popular costume this Halloween due to the rise of the “Arthur meme,” but, luckily, this is a super easy costume to put together. All you need is a yellow sweater, a white collared shirt underneath, a pair of jeans, and a pair of glasses. You could even make your own pair of ears, if you haven’t waited until the very last minute. Bonus points if you get a friend to dress up like D.W. or Buster.
Ziggy Stardust
To channel your inner David Bowie, you don’t really even need a costume. By painting the iconic Ziggy Stardust lightning bolt, you will already show your love of pop culture. Nasty Gal has a great tutorial for the makeup here.
If you haven't come up with a costume, you don’t have to skip out on Halloween all together, and you don't have to pull a Charlie Brown and throw a sheet over your head in your hurry for a Halloween costume.
You can still show off your creativity and impress others with items in your closet.
