What To Do In Your Last Days of a Trump-Free America

Women should probably take this short time to run to the pharmacy, if they want to of course.

Go get your free birth control, and rack up!

Before Donald Trump enters the Oval Office, there are some very important things that some women should take care of. My main concern is birth control. Whether it be the pill or the Intrauterine Device (IUD).

I believe that a lot of men believe women use forms of birth control just to prevent pregnancy. Fact is, that’s not the only reason we like BC. It often helps with acne control, for some women, and with our periods. You may feel like this is gross to talk about, but you have to grow up. It’s natural, it happens, get over it. Now, for me, BC helps keep the cramps at a minimum and gives me a lighter flow. Before I started taking the pill form of BC, I had the absolute worst cramps. Worst meaning I could not function while having a cramp, I had to pause everything I was doing. I also had an extremely heavy flow. One day when I was much younger, I had on four pads to go with my underwear and pants… and I still bled through. That happened to me a few times.

I would like to just say thank God for birth control. Although it doesn’t always have the best side effects, it makes some lives a lot easier. While I do not have an IUD, I know a few people who do and they enjoy it. There’s a little freedom there with not having to remember to take a pill daily. This is a t-shaped piece of plastic that is implanted in your uterus to prevent pregnancy. According to a CBS News article, some types of implants last longer than others. Mirena, a pretty popular brand, lasts about five years.

Under the Trump administration, as of right now, birth control would no longer be free with insurance. I say “as of right now”, because I truly feel like he’s going to change his mind about a lot of things. I think he likes the shock factor he gives instead of saying how he really feels, so we shall see. Also, his administration wants to defund Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood is a 100-year old company that has been giving communities great healthcare. They are a leader is sexual health and also deliver sex education to communities. Conservatives are against PP because of that hot word ‘abortion’. There is some thought that PP just hands out free abortions at every location to whomever. That is not true. First of all, abortions are not free. Insurance does help, but they are not free. Secondly, not all 650 of their clinics offer abortions. They may offer abortion referral, but not actual abortions. For example. The location in Benton Harbor, MI does not offer abortion services, but the one in Lawrenceville, GA does.

I know plenty of people are scared of this new administration, but hopefully “The Donald” is all talk. Mike Pence on the other hand… I’m not even sure. That man is lost.

So just one more time, before January 20, 2017, go get your free birth control. And rack up! Stay strong and stay hopeful America.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
