Las Tres Amigas

Back In Action Again

Las Tres Amigas
Hanna Bolduc

Recently, I was granted the opportunity to reunite with my best friends in Paris Island, South Carolina. The occasion: a marine graduation for Hanna Bolduc, a member of Las Tres Amigas.

Our history together is rather interesting, for Hanna and I became friends in eighth grade and remained so throughout high school. Along the way Hanna and I picked up Ambar, another founding member of Las Tres Amigas. Admittedly, she kind of nudged her way into our two-some, but we took her willingly because she seemed like an excellent fit. And that she was! Throughout our years attending Coe-Brown Northwood Academy, Las Tres Amigas stuck together like glue. We did EVERYTHING together, from coffee shop dates to wild nights at the club. Regardless of how annoying one another seemed to the other, we still kept our friendship. The point is, our friendship lasted throughout high school and has carried on into our "adult years".

Now that there is some background on us (because I mean who wouldn't want to know?), it's necessary that I cherish recent events regarding our reunion. Firstly, Hanna is a Marine now, which explains the whole expedition down to South Carolina. Ambar and I, with the help of my mamma, went to see her graduate. In all honesty, this whole best friend as a Marine thing is super bad-ass. I mean how many people get to say their friend actually graduated from the Marine's? In due time, we saw Hanna and it was amazing. I vividly remember rushing through the line to get to her. Unfortunately though, there had been a guy in front of us taking his dear sweet time, as if this were some stroll through a park. Regardless, Ambar, Hanna, and I all immediately embraced...Ambar of course being the only one crying because that's just her thing.

After that, there were pictures, a lot of pictures. Then we went to the PX (for those of you who don't know- it's a huge shopping center that sells literally everything on discount for those in the military). While there, I went to the perfume section and of course took almost half an hour to select a desired scent. Upon finally picking my favorite, I went to pay and found out I needed either a military ID or someone in the Marine's to purchase. Naturally, I looked for Hanna and couldn't find her. So, granted with today's technology, I called her and found out she went to lunch with her family. Due to various occurences though, Ambar and I ended up being stranded at this PX for about two hours. Looking back, it's pretty funny, but at the time we were hungry, bored and both of our phones died so we couldn't even call my mom. The whole situation was unnecessary, but in the end it all worked out.

Now that Hanna is finally home, and both Ambar and I have school break, Las Tres Amigas are back. I understand that this story was somewhat arbitrary and has no real point, however, for me it is all about true friendship. Overall, I know Ambar and Hanna will be hearing this (partly because I am going to make them listen to me read it out loud), so I just want to say thanks for keeping it real. Friends are extremely important to have, and luckily I landed the jack pot.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
