What Your Laptop Stickers Say About You

Everyone loves to personalize their computers with stickers. Some are unique and some are one of a kind. Others seem to be on every person's laptop. This is what it says about you if your computer displays the following stickers:

A Vineyard Vines whale:

Either everything you own is from Vineyard Vines or you owned one thing at one time or another. There is no in between.

An American flag:

If you display an American flag sticker on your laptop, chances are there is also one hanging in your room. The fourth of July is your favorite holiday, and you try to start the U-S-A chant every chance you get.

An outline of your state:

You probably don’t go to college in your home state, and you are the first to proclaim the place from which you hail. The pride you have for your hometown is untamed.

Kim Kardashian’s crying face:

If you have one of the many different Kim Kardashian crying face stickers on your laptop, chances are you are just trying to stay humble and remind yourself that no matter how stressful your life is, it will never compare to the difficult time Kim faced when she lost her earring in the ocean.

Your monogram:

Either you sometimes forget your name or you are super preppy. If this sticker is in a Lily Pulitzer print, you are extra preppy and chances are you also have the Vineyard Vines whale and an anchor sticker on your laptop.

Treat yo’ self:

You are probably a huge "Parks and Rec" fan. Leslie Knope is your spirit animal, and you're Lil’ Sebastian’s number one supporter.

The Lizzie McGuire cartoon:

You live for classic Disney Channel shows. You loved "Phil of the Future", "That So Raven", and of course, "Lizzie McGuire". You never miss an opportunity to tell people how much of a disgrace the current trash on Disney Channel is. You also were 100 percent convinced you were Lizzie McGuire and desperately wanted to travel to Rome and meet your own Paolo.

A sticker from a ski resort:

To be completely honest, you’ve probably been there once and haven’t skied since then.

A molecular structure:

Science Major. Enough said.

Something political:

You are that person who can’t make it through a conversation without subtly inserting your political opinion or changing the subject to the latest debate or rally.

Patagonia sticker:

You’re so frat. There is probably a southern tide sticker right next to it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

1. People assume you are mad all of the time.

2. Ten out of ten times you will give off an intimidating impression to others.

3. People do not acknowledge your feelings because you "do not have any."

4. Constantly being exhausted from trying to smile and not look like a witch.

5. And on the rare occasion your facial expressions show how happy you are, your friends think you are going crazy.

6. Each of your friends has said "I thought you were so mean when I first met you" at some point.

7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.

9. And when you are actually mad, your facial expressions are horrifying.

10. In the end you always look like you are judging people, when in reality people are ALWAYS judging you.
