To my country,
As of now we are seeing three kinds of people:
1.Trump supporters who are telling liberals to "chill out."
2. Fed up angry liberals in a state of shock.
3. The optimistic, who believe the world is going to be okay and that we just need to unify and come together.
Before any members of these party starts jumping down my throat, labeling me or criticizing me, I have the freedom of speech on my side. So if you can bear with me, as you read what I have to say, we might be able to accomplish something.
All three of these people are allowed to say whatever they want. I'm also allowed to tell you I think you are completely wrong. I'm allowed to be upset, and you're allowed to tell me I'm being melodramatic.
Here is the sad and blatant truth: you are one person. One small spec on this Earth, in this country for that matter. So really all we have at the end of this, at the end of every election, every day, every life time -- the only person we have is ourselves! The only person we look in the mirror at is ourselves. The only voice we can use, mind we can change, only fight we can fight is the ones we choose to believe in.
That being said, you get to post on Facebook whatever you want. You get to argue with whoever you want, but you don't get to decide for them what they choose and what they can believe. You can only hope they will have an open mind.
One of my best friends is a Trump supporter. Do we have the same views? Absolutely not. Would I do anything for her? Absolutely. We all have our own battles to fight, we all have our own opinions and our own set of morals to follow suit but that doesn't mean anyone on this planet is not entitled to how they feel and their reactions to this election.
I will continue to fight for women's rights. I will continue to fight for LGBT rights and the rights of minorities. It is who I am and it doesn't make me a bleeding heart liberal, it makes me a human who is allowed to have opinions, who is allowed to hurt, and be worried about my future. Regardless I am going to fight for the America I want to see.
We all have a small corner of the world and we need to make that corner a little brighter. All we can do is be happy with how we treat others, how we feel about ourselves. The only thing we can give to one another is an open mind. We may never agree. Never. But as the great Abraham Lincoln said, "A house divided cannot stand." Be open, be kind, and be happy with the person YOU choose to be.
Sincerely,
Whatever you want to label me.
