"La La Land" was a great movie for the most part. It was about two people that struggled having a career in the performing arts careers and fell for each other after running into each other on numerous occasions. He was a jazz musician and she was an actress, but they were both poor and struggling when they fell in love. They built each other up through the ups and downs of life, and they taught each other about life. In the end they broke up because life pulled them in different directions career wise. The end has her running into the main guy at his business when he fulfilled his dream, because her husband thought the place looked cool, but the odd thing was that she had no chemistry with her husband. It ends with Ryan Gosling sitting at the piano after a sad montage of Ryan Goslings character having a montage of what could've been if he ended up with Emma Stones character, and that part leaves us all feeling broken because it made us feel as if they still loved each other and Emma Stone's character was basically trapped in a marriage without love, while leaving Gosling's character to live a lonely existence. This was not the type of ending that we usually get from musicals, and I wouldn't have a problem with the sad romantic storyline if Emma Stone had chemistry with the man playing her husband.
"La La Land" was a great movie, but as for the technical aspects, it shouldn't be watched for people with motion sickness. The way they controlled the cameras was very chaotic with a lot of spinning. However, the way they used panning and other camera angles was beautifully done. The cinematography was well done otherwise, like in the tap dancing scene. It was also a great musical with old fashions feelings with the scenery, clothing, and cinematography. With saying that, the costume designer did a great job and matched clothing very well for moods and scenes, but in the film there was an awkward shower scene where Emma Stone came out with her body wet, but perfectly blown out hair. There was a flaw in the design for that scene that brought us into a musical number because it looked goofy in a bad way. She should've at least had a shower cap on before going into a musical number. That's my opinion on this movie, even though I enjoyed most of it. I'd say it's worth checking out, but definitely bring tissues. It's still a movie that's good and worth seeing despite minor flaws.
