Summer is officially halfway over and school is approaching, which means my favorite season is coming to a close: lake season. There is nothing better than soaking up the sun on the boat at your favorite lake and spending time with friends and family with a drink in your hand.
Whether there's a lake in your hometown or you travel to the cabin, anyone who spends time on the water can agree that it's one of the best places on Earth. Here's why.
1. The restaurants
You're enjoying yourself with friends and family on the water and realize it's been hours since you've had a meal. Instead of having to end your lake day and go home for supper, you can dock at your favorite restaurant on the lake and enjoy a delicious meal. These restaurants often feature mouthwatering sea food to compliment the day you just spent on the lake.
2. The sun
Getting tan is one of my favorite parts of summer (although it's mostly just the darkening of the many freckles covering my body). There's nothing better than coming home from the lake with sun-kissed skin and that happy, healthy glow.
3. The endless activities
There is so much to do at the lake. If you don't have a boat, some great options are canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, or just hanging out at the beach. If you're one of the lucky people who owns a boat (or maybe a generous friend does), you can wake board, surf, or go tubing.
4. Island parties
Looking for a fun weekend activity filled with games, music, and drinking? Head over to one of the popular islands on your lake where boats tie up and create one big party!
5. Sunsets
I don't think there's anything better than a good lake sunset. The orange, yellow, and red colors come together in the sky to create a gorgeous view. Take in these moments because they won't last forever.
6. Quality time with friends and family
The lake is a great way to bring people together. It gives friends and family members an excuse to get together, enjoy the beautiful weather, and create memories. People are able to relax, talk, and enjoy their free time before the busy school year starts up again.
7. Holiday weekends
The 4th of July on the lake is a whole new level. Everyone goes all out, starting the day early in the morning and ending it by watching fireworks after dark. Labor Day and Memorial Day weekend are also great times to celebrate on the lake.
To me, the lake is like a second home. It's my favorite time of the year where I create memories that will last me through the cold winter months and keep me excited for the next summer. Lake life truly is the best life.
