Lake George is a popular vacationing spot for families, and with so many different restaurants and attractions, it can be hard to visit them all in an extended weekend. That's why I took into consideration the places that I have visited, and created this short lists of things you absolutely must do while visiting.
1. Stop for breakfast at Bolton Beans.
For me, food is everything, so you will notice that restaurants to try will continue throughout my list. I take what I eat very seriously, as a food lover I highly suggest stopping by this quaint diner located in Bolton Landing, NY. An old service car as the centerpiece for the cafe and patio seating outdoors draws just enough attention to reel you in. Great traditional breakfast dishes at affordable prices along with a full espresso bar; what more can you ask for?
Check out Bolton Beans at 4967 Lake Shore Dr, Bolton Landing, New York.
2. Stroll through Bolton Landing's antique shops.
Also located in Bolton Landing, NY are a variety of antique shops. Whether you are looking for interesting pieces for your home, or something to remind you of your childhood, walking in and looking through the dusty shelves is a true treat. Lakeview Antiques (above) is just one of the few antique shops that has it all. Anything from Polaroid cameras, vinyls, vintage toys, traditional kitchenware, to tools, typewriters, and furniture, you will not be disappointed. Even if you don't plan on buying anything from these stores, just walking through is like traveling back in time.

3.Take time to put those cell phones away, and just sit by the lake and enjoy the view.
Take advantage of the views around you, pull up a lounge chair, and lay back and relax. There's nothing like unwinding to the soft lap of waves and the soft hum of speedboats cruising across the calm water.
4. Indulge in some tasty barbecue at Barnsider Smokehouse.
As I mentioned earlier, traveling is all about the food. One of the best places that I discovered while in Lake George was Barnsider. Their barbecue was out of this world, and while their prices are a little on the pricier end, they were well worth it. The atmosphere is great, and the staff is very friendly. The very second that you open your car door, the smell of all things amazing will take over, and you won't be able to help yourself. Before you know it, you will be sitting at the table, hands covered in barbecue sauce, wondering why you thought you would ever be able to finish that whole rack of baby back ribs by yourself.
Visit Barnsider at 2112 State Rt. 9 South, Lake George, NY 12845
5. Two words: Miniature. Golf.
Kangaroos, dinosaurs, and bears-- Oh my! Goony Golf has it all. Their creative miniature golf course is great for kids, but also for adults. Mini-golf allows for a little bit of friendly competition, and this goofy course has just enough charisma to make you want to play over and over. With an arcade right next door, Goony Golf is sure to make for an entertaining date night.

6. Splurge a little at Serendipity Boutique.
Serendipity is a great little boutique that has it all. From jewelry and clothing, to swimwear and coverups, it is nearly guaranteed that you will find something that you like here. With those cute little inviting lilac doors, it is nearly impossible to leave without doing a little shopping here.
Shop at 4950 Lake Shore Dr, Bolton Landing, NY 12814.
7. Make a pit-stop at Shepard Park for some live music and fireworks.
This beautiful park is not only free admission, but also offers live entertainment and firework shows weekly through the late summer months. Whether you are strolling through the Village of Lake George, or merely passing through, be sure to check their online schedule for their fireworks over the lake, and live music. And on those sticky hot summer days, you don't have to worry-- they have a beach too!
