This is not the entire story, this is just a taste of what's coming. I had a little bit of a writer's block, so I decided to post this. Next week, I'll have another Spoken Word, this time titled "Fingerprints of God." This time, just enjoy this excerpt from my upcoming short story "Lady in the Water"
Panting and soaked in sweat from his weekly hike, the traveler found himself severely dehydrated. He didn't bring his water bottle, mistakenly believing he didn't need it. Normally, he was able to find a source of water very close by; unfortunately, today, he wasn't so lucky. It was one of the hottest days in the summer season, and he was starting to feel like all the water had left his body. For several hours he walked around until, finally, he found it... a beautiful, mirror-like lake of wonderful water. So dehydrated and so tired, he didn't hesitate to kneel down and take drinks from the lake. Suddenly, he looked up from his drinking and then he saw her: the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. Almost inhumanly beautiful, in fact. So pale she was almost translucent, long flowing black hair, she appeared to be very tall and slender. She was dressed in a white gown, and her eyes were closed. She was swaying gently within the water, arms spread wide.
Despite every compulsion not to, he gently approached the woman. That would be his worst mistake ever and his last.
