I remember the first time I ever heard the song Poker Face by Lady Gaga. In February 2009, I was sitting in my grandmother's car when it came on the radio and my life was changed. I had never heard anything like that sounded in that and I was immediately hooked on it. The song gave me chills and it still does to this day.

Whether you like her music or not, you cannot deny the relevance and impact that Stefani Germanotta, also known as Lady Gaga, has had on our culture. Her first album, The Fame, shot up in the charts with songs like Poker Face, Bad Romance,Alejandro, and many others. These songs boasted catchy lyrics, rhythmic beats, and a unique style that made it attractive to audiences around the world.

The album is three times certified platinum and many of the songs featured on it have been nominated for Grammys. Her music and her image were completely different than the typical pop star. She wore eccentric outfits and sung about controversial subjects which grew her fan base 'the little monsters' greatly.

In 2011, she released Born This Way, which again was revolutionary in the music industry. Her hit single from the album, 'Born This Way' was truly a hit around the world. Not just was it number one on the Billboard Hot 100, but it was an anthem for people who felt bullied, judged, and sad with themselves. The song preaches and promotes the importance of self-acceptance. This song also became an anthem for those part of the LGBTQ+ community with its inspirational lyrics.

The album also boasts other hits like Judas, You and I, and Edge of Glory which were all hits in their own right.

ARTPOP was Gaga's next album and it was released in 2013. Gaga wrote this album as she was recovering from a labral hip tear she sustained during her tour. However, ARTPOP did not garner the same success as her previous albums. The two main hits from the album Applause and Do What U Want was hit, however, they were nothing compared to her music from the past. After ARTPOP was released, Gaga wanted to rejuvenate and recollect herself for her new music.

Gaga's most recent album, Joanne, is very different from her first album The Fame. Joanne has a lot more of a country vibe instead of her typical pop music. She mentioned in her documentary that "she wanted to change her pop star image because she is not the same person that she was during her meat dress phase" The album has more calming hits like Million reasons and Perfect Illusion.

As a fan, I completely respected her change of style as an artist because change is essential for all humans. She has completely evolved from a young pop artist to a sophisticated lady of many music genres. I absolutely love her old and new music. Her music can fit many situations and evokes a lot of emotions from the listener. Regardless if you dislike her music, you cannot deny that she is a remarkable young artist.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
