The days of driving 45 minutes to Montgomery for doughnuts are over. All of us have craved a hot doughnut during an all-nighter in RBD, but alas, there was no Krispy Kreme nearby. That is until Auburn student Allie McCafferty decided to take matters into her own hands.
Allie decided to start a petition using the website change.org. At the moment, the petition has 1,719 supporters. When asked what drove her to finally campaign for a Krispy Kreme in the Auburn area, she said, "I decided to start the petition on a really cold day because I was missing my home in Hunstville and I was craving a hot doughnut. It's the perfect comfort food." Amen to that. There were so many days in February when a hot doughnut could've turned the day around.
Allie started the petition on February 25, and heard back on March 3 saying that Krispy Kreme was looking for a location in Auburn. City Council approved an agreement so that the beloved restaurant will be by the Auburn Mall.
So the next time you have a late-night craving, the "hot and ready" sign won't be too far.
