Athletic shorts with fratty style. What more could you ask for?
Greek life is a huge part of the culture at UVA, especially when it comes to its influence on fashion. You can’t walk to class on a rainy day in Charlottesville without seeing 300 pairs of Bean Boots. When the cold weather hits, we bust out the Fratogonia fleeces. Frockets and croakies are spring staples.
So what’s the next big thing? We are sure to find out once the semester gets underway; but there is a mostly unheard of, up-and-coming company that I can see making some noise.
Krass and Co. was founded in 2011 by Pierson Krass. He was tired of the boring and often uncomfortable athletic shorts that dominate the market, and he wanted something different.
His shorts bring a balance of class, flash, and athletic style that are perfect for the Greek college student. We’re talking shorts in bright colors for guys and gals with embroidered lobsters, anchors, and other nautical motifs. Nothing screams “fratty” like nautical motifs. That and ‘Merica. And, of course, Krass has some American flag shorts too.
These shorts are perfect for a UVA student, or any college student, because six out of seven days a week we don’t want to put in the effort to pull on real pants. Krass and Co. shorts give us a fratty and fashionable option in which we can roll out of bed, go to the gym, and then roll back into bed.
Keep in mind, however, that these shorts aren’t all about the prints and the embroideries—they are high quality. I own two pairs myself (one with the aforementioned embroidered lobsters and one with bow-ties printed along the sides), and they are the most comfortable shorts I have ever put on. Whether you wear them to class or to work out, you’re going to look good.
We know that sorority girls love to look casual and comfortable while still put together (see: Norts and spirit jerseys). Krass and Co. is a brand that embraces that balance in a way that no other company has done thus far.
They are still a young company; but they provide great products, and it is clear that there is huge potential for growth. If it’s going to grow, it will all start be at college campuses nationwide (they are always looking for brand representatives to help promote the brand).
Maybe they’ll be the next big thing; but even if they aren’t, I’ll still be rolling out of bed into class with my lobster shorts on.
