Right or Wrong?

Recently there has been an uproar about the 20-minute video of Korryn Gaines and her encounter with the Maryland Police which later resulted in her death. Some people are saying that she was wrong for not complying and other people are saying that it's another #blacklivesmatter issue. Well, I think it is both right and wrong, but I will explain the wrong reasons first.

In the video, Korryn explained over and over how she wasn't going to comply with the law and that she basically lives by her own rules and not by what someone tells her to do. I feel like everything would have gone much smoother if she had just accepted the ticket and let her car get towed.

But instead, she just decided to make the situation worse by resisting. Another issue I saw was how she said she "they were going to have to kill her." She had to two beautiful children to continue living for. Why would you put your children in harms way? She should at least have gotten her children out of the way.

Whether her son wanted to stay with her or not, she put the life of her son in danger and he could have been killed. Then her son also got shot in the process. I understand where she was coming from because lately cops have been killing and treating African Americans these days, but that does not mean that all cops are bad.

Most cops are good. Some just have bad intentions and should not have been chosen to cops anyway. Also the officer was only there because she had failed to appear in court for a traffic ticket.

In a way I support Korryn Gaines too. Though it may not have been the best way to deal with things, she stood up for what she believed in. She said she did not fear the cops and she was stood by what she said. Also she did eventually get out of the car and went inside her home.

However, the police followed and they say that they got a key from the landlord to open up the door, but her son said that they police busted down the door and opened fire, wounding him and killing her. Gaines had a gun but she never opened fire at the officers so they should not have even shot her.

All together I honestly believe that things could have been dealt with differently and her death and the wounding of son could have been avoided if she had just complied with the police even if she did not want to.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
