One of my biggest guilty pleasures that I'm admittedly not super guilty about is my obsession with skincare. I love it when my skin is super smooth and soft to the touch. Taking care of my skin also helps me when I put on makeup because everything just goes on nicer and smoother.

Face masks are some of the best and most fun ways to achieve this skincare goal of having smoother and softer skin. Below are some of my personal favorites that you should definitely consider trying. I guarantee that you'll feel super pampered when you try these.

1. The Face Shop Real Nature Aloe Mask

Purpose: hydration

When it comes to aloe, anything goes! Aloe is a great way to hydrate your skin. Did you also know that the cause of excessively oily skin is dehydration? It's your skin's way of telling you that it's thirsty and you need to do something about it. So grab an aloe mask and start hydrating!

2. Tonymoly I'm Real Rice Mask

Purpose: brightening

A skincare trend nowadays seems to revolve around having glowing youthful skin. Some people achieve this by using highlighters. I like to do it with this face mask. Anything with rice is actually great for brightening, especially if you feel like your skin's been feeling a bit, well, dull.

3. Mediheal Placenta Revital Essential Mask

Purpose: healing

Being a journalism major, I'm always busy writing and reading and writing some more. I rarely, if ever, have time to care for my skin on a daily basis like I used to before this semester ... which is why I will always hold a space place in my heart for this mask.

I know it sounds gross because placenta, but trust me when I say that this is seriously one of the most effective masks I've ever used. This one is honestly great to use when you're in a rush or you simply haven't been taking care of your skin (and I'm guilty of neglecting my skin). It's an instantly moisturizing masks that seems to heal past acne scars, dry and flaky skin and more.

4. Jeju Natural Green Tea Mask

Purpose: purify and moisturize

When I say "purify," I do mean purify. This green tea mask is great for keeping your pores clean and happy (at least in my experience, it does). It also has the added benefit of keeping your skin moisturized while not being too heavy-feeling at the same time. This is great for the summer time when you just want to cool down and pamper yourself in those coming hot days.

5. The Face Shop character masks

Purpose: to have fun (and also to moisturize your skin)!

These character masks are another personal favorites because these are honestly some of the funniest (and actually, kind of terrifying!) masks that I've ever used. These masks come in so many choices and even have holiday options like Santa or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Behind these cute little animal imprints is hyaluronic acid, which is great for keeping your skin moisturized and looking as young as ever.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
