I know the feeling; the feeling of overwhelming stress that you can't seem to shake. Waking up every morning with a to-do list that you just don't feel like accomplishing because you're too busy wallowing in your own self-pity. I know the feeling.

Sometimes we come to several points in our lives where the good things seem so far away from us and the bad things keep coming (or at least we think they are.) We are so triggered by every little thing that it keeps us miserable because we're constantly telling ourselves “I should've done this, I should've done that.” I know from first-hand experience what it's like to instantly be triggered by one little thing. If something doesn't work out or “go my way,” I automatically shoot to “Well, if you would've done this in the beginning, you wouldn't be in this predicament right now.” It's exhausting; so exhausting that your thoughts make you not even want to continue planning a new future because for some reason it seems “too hard.”

Here's the deal. We do this to ourselves; we stress ourselves out so bad and for what? All we're doing is assisting in keeping ourselves miserable. You know how some people say, “The Power of Prayer,” well I like, “The Power of Thought.” I don't think we realize how strong of power our thoughts have in our everyday lives. If all we are doing is worrying every day then the results will never get better. Maybe, if we are more kind to ourselves and build ourselves up instead of tearing deep into our every mistake, our lives would be much happier.

I still stress and am triggered but I also have come to know myself much better and can see how my thoughts change so quickly. Now that I know how fast they can change, I can catch myself much faster than before and instead of thinking negatively, I can change it to something positive. It takes work to learn yourself and your every move and why you do and think the way that you do. I will tell you, though, when you know, it is so worth it.

Stop doubting yourself, stop thinking about your past mistakes, and start believing you deserve and will create a better future for yourself. Don't give up just yet, let the storm pass and aid yourself in getting better with clearer and more positive thoughts in the process. It's not easy, but I promise once you do it, your life will get better and all that worrying will slowly fade.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
