You Know You're From Lee's Summit, MO When....
Summit Fair

http://www.lsr7.org/Ah, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. 90,000 people live here. But what’s so great about it? If you’re from good ol’ Summit, these ring so true for each and every single one of us.

1. The stereotypes of the three high schools are still reliable to this day.

Original, North and West. The stereotypes that were established decades ago still exist, and are agreed upon to this very day.

Bonus points if you can name them.

2. Neighborhood Cafe is where you go for breakfast

Forget IHOP. Neighborhood’s giant cinnamon rolls and pies makes late start Wednesdays the best. Or any occasion in all honesty.

3. Road Construction is all the time.

Whether Hook rd, Lee’s Summit Road or Ward road- Construction makes you late to everything and is extremely annoying.

4. Ward Road is flooded by the cops. All. The. Time.

Especially where the speed limit changes from 45 to 35.

Bonus if you ever got pulled over at that spot.

5. Summit Fair was the biggest blessing when it opened.

Who doesn’t love small cakes, Macy’s and JCP in our backyard? No more running out to Independence to getting our fix of cupcakes and prom dresses!

6. Holiday route of Summit Woods Crossing was created by the devil.

Whoever came up with that idea, everyone who goes to Summit Woods Crossing during the holidays hates you, and a lot of us don’t follow the signs anyway.

7. You have had/attended a birthday party at Landmark Skate

Best skating rink of all time for anyone who’s from here. Limbo and the Dice game were the best, hands down.

Bonus points if you ever won either game.

8. Legacy pool was pretty cool for being an indoor pool.

Let’s be real: for what we have here, Legacy is a great pool to keep children entertained.

Bonus points if you ever had/attended a party there.

9. You have had pictures done at Lowenstein Park

Prom, Homecoming, Senior Photos. You name it, you’ll see people there taking photos in the butterfly garden, or by the bridge.

10. Prom at JKP was alright.

Why not have it else where? Like Downtown Lee’s Summit. It’s not even near much. Yes, it is a big space, but pick somewhere cooler.

11. Lea McKeighan Park is so much more fun now.

The zipline, rope swings and the water pad is what makes Lea McKeighan Park the best in the area.

12. Walmart has memories there.

Not much to do? Go walk around and explore/mess around in Walmart. Always an adventure in store.

13. Custard’s Last Stand is hands down the best place for Ice Cream in LS.

Nanabutter is personal favorite here. You can never not get ice cream after a baseball game or when the Chiefs win here. Best atmosphere, period.

14. The movie theatre is ratchet.

Ranky chairs, gross bathrooms and overly buttered popcorn didn’t stop you from going there for dates or with the fam.

You couldn’t wait to leave the town, but always find your way back home. No matter how hard you try to leave “Lee’s Scummit”, you always come back to the memories, great places and atmosphere.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).
