You Know Your Mom Is Your BFF When

My mom and I have always been really close. Since high school, I've realized that not only are we a pretty awesome mother-daughter duo, but we're actually BFFs. We spend most of our time together, we love the same things, and we can have fun doing just about anything.

Here's how you know that you and your mom are BFFs:

1. She is your favorite shopping partner.

She gives you great clothing advice AND she doesn't judge your singing or dancing to the radio on the ride there.

2. She takes selfies with you...

...and loves the Snapchat filters.

3. You binge watch the same show together.

Our favorite is "Golden Girls." We watch at least two episodes almost every morning while we eat our breakfast.

4. You can tell her anything, and she won't judge you.

Plus, she gives the best advice.

5. She remembers everything that anyone has ever done to hurt you.

The middle school boyfriend who broke your heart? Even after you've moved on, she still can't stand to even hear his name.

6. You borrow each other's clothes.

(If you're lucky you even have the same shoe size.)

7. You take her side in any argument.

(Unless it's an argument against you).

8. She's always been your number one cheerleader.

9. You have the same sense of humor

She understands your humor like no one else can truly understands, and you two have as many inside jokes as a middle school clique.

10. She's been your friend through EVERYTHING.

She still loved you through your temper tantrums as a toddler, your awkward stage, your first heartbreak, and she'll still be there for you even when you leave home. She's your A1 since day 1, literally.

I couldn't ask for a better mom or a better best friend.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
