The Effects of Consuming Tuna Daily

Everyone should always pay attention to everything that they eat. Food is good and it should be eaten, but not all food is good, if it is consumed daily. In America, most Americans struggle with keeping their weight down or at an even balance.

Working a summer camp job, where it was a must to pack a lunch, tuna was my favorite meal. In my opinion, tuna only tastes better when it is mixed with mayo and relish. I’d pack it along with crackers, apple sauce, carrots and chips. Then pack a water bottle and a juice box too.

In the grocery store, tuna packets are sold where customers can buy them pre-made with mayo and relish. One day when I went shopping I brought a lot of them, which became a habit, especially when they were on sale 10 for $10.

At my job we were in week nine of camp, and a co-worker of mine explained to me that too much tuna is bad for you because of mercury. My reaction were in two different places, because at the time I was eating it and then I was surprised. Once I got home, I thought about what my co-worker said and just like any other person, I had to google it.

To trust a reliable source, I read about tuna on the Live Strong website. It showed plenty of information given to those who never knew tuna can be harmful in a lot of ways. It even said that albacore tuna should be avoided daily since it is higher in mercury. Mercury is poisonous that can lead to serious health dangers to the brain, heart, kidneys and lungs. Even if tuna is a daily food, a person should speak to their doctor about it.

The reason tuna has mercury in it is because rainfall transforms the mercury pollutant into the water where tuna absorbs it. And being that tuna is a larger fish, they gain more of mercury by eating other fish.

Tuna is found throughout the world’s largest oceans, including the Atlantic and Pacific. Albacore and bluefin tunas are found in temperament waters. Southern bluefin tunas are sold at sushi and sashimi markets. Bigeye, yellowfin and shipjack tunas are usually found in the tropic oceans.

The American Heart Association recommends that tuna should be eaten twice a day to continue good health. The perks of eating tuna is that it is inexpensive, low in calories and a good source of protein. Although tuna should not be eaten every day, it can still be a part of a good diet.

Now that I have educated myself about how to eat tuna, I have cut down my portions to twice a week of eating it. When I eat tuna, I usually eat it along with something else, like green vegetables, rice or corn.

It is important that everyone learn the basics of good eating habits because it will make you feel better about yourself to help others around you that could use the information too.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
