Know Your Rights: 11 Resources Minorities Should Know About In Atlanta

If you're an immigrant, Muslim, or are a member of the LGBT community then you may be feeling unsafe after the results of the election. If you need accesses to legal, financial, housing, or medical help (in case of emergency please call 911) and you reside in the state of Georgia, then this list is for you. Pass this on to a friend. This information could be vital as climates shift across our nation and the safety of millions comes into question.

CAIR

Mission:"To enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding."

Services: Report an incident involving discrimination or a hate-crime, self-defense courses for women, and literature on civil rights.

Mission: "ICNA Relief USA seeks to alleviate human suffering by providing caring and compassionate service to victims of adversities and survivors of disasters. Trans Housing Atlanta

Mission: Provide housing and life support for transgender and gender non-conforming people in Atlanta.

Services:"Provide safe housing and appropriate supportive services to transgender and gender nonconforming (defined as any personal gender identity different or trans-gressive from the sex assigned at birth) individuals who are homeless to facilitate movement to independent living and promote productive employment and reduction of risky behaviors, or who seek intermediate or long-term housing that’s centered on the needs of transgender and gender nonconforming people."


Positive Impact Health Center

Mission: Centered care, so that he HIV community can live a life that's worth loving.

Services: AIDS Drug Assistance Program, Healthcare Insurance Continuation Program, group therapy, STI testing, and addiction recovery.

The Latin American Association

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.
