Top Ten List

Ever since I was a little girl, my family and I have taken a weekend trip to Knoebels amusement park each June for Father's Day. It has become my absolute favorite place to go and enjoy spending time with my family. This small, family-oriented and free admissions amusement park is located in Elysburg, Pennsylvania. Amazing rides, awesome games and a family-fun atmosphere, Knoebels is a favorite place for families to get away and have a lot of fun. Here are some unique things that I love about Knoebels!

1. The Phoenix

The Phoenix is known as one of the best wooden roller coasters ever built! This is the favorite ride for almost everyone who has ever been to Knoebels. It's not a trip to Knoebels if you don't go on the Phoenix at least once...or twice!

2. The Carousel

The carousel at Knoebels is one of my favorite rides to go on! What's unique about this carousel is that each and every horse on the ride was hand-carved. You also have the opportunity to collect as many silver rings as you can, as well as a chance to attempt to grab the golden ring!

3. The Log Flume

The Log Flume has been my favorite ride since I started going to Knoebels. The line is always moving, so the wait is minimal. So kids, like me, can go on as many times as they want! Plus, with the splash at the bottom of the hill, the ride allows family members or other onlookers to spray you with water so you can get extra wet!

4. The Old Mill Ice Cream

The Old Mill is the best place to get ice cream at Knoebels! They have so many delicious ice cream sundaes and the best banana splits imaginable. The building is so rustic and beautiful, especially with the old wooden mill running, that people will wait in line forever just to get a couple of scoops of ice cream!

5. The Ferris Wheel

The Ferris Wheel is a family favorite for kids of all ages! When you reach the top, you are able to look over the whole park. The view is absolutely magnificent!

6. The Twister

If you are looking for a fast-paced and energizing ride, then the Twister is for you! It's another one of Knoebels' famous wooden roller coasters and it gives a whirlwind of a ride!

7. The Boats

There is nothing more accurate than this picture to describe the famous boat rides! This ride allows you to manually steer your own boat around the track in the park. The best and most frustrating part of the ride is when you get stuck and have to figure out how to get yourself turned around. It is the cause for many laughs and memorable moments.

8. The Pioneer Train Rides

The train rides at Knoebels are so much fun! The trains take you around the park and into the woods where you can see a few squirrels nibbling on corn stalks. It's so fun to go through the tunnels, hear the engine of the train and wave to other passengers as they pass by on other trains.

9. The Campground

The campground is a great place for families who want to have a weekend getaway! My family and I love to sit around the campfire, make s'mores and talk when we camp at Knoebels.

10. The Bumper Cars

Nothing is more fun than the bumper cars at Knoebels! These old-time bumper cars are a family favorite that result in a lot of laughs.

11. The Crystal Pool

The Crystal Pool is a great place to go when you need to cool off! This attraction includes diving boards and water slides, so it's an entertaining place if you want to go for a swim.

Knoebels is an amazing amusement park for people of all ages. There is always something to do, so people always leave smiling. Maybe I am biased, but I think that Knoebels is the best amusement park around.

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.

I am without a doubt one of those people who refuses to start decorating for Christmas or listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving has become an underrated holiday over the years. You barely see any Thanksgiving decorations in stores; it's like they skip right from Halloween to Christmas.

Some universities only get two or three days off for Thanksgiving break. Or, if your university is like mine, you get the whole week off go go home. A whole week off is a long time. I'm not complaining, because I'd rather have a whole week off than three days, but there is a lot of down time. Here are some ideas as to what you can do to get the most out of your Thanksgiving break.
