As the school year is quickly coming to an end, summer is right around the corner. Summer, a time that we college students used to think of as all play, no work. A time of relaxation and fun. A time to vibe and have the time of your life. For many of us, this is no longer the case, and for others, it still is. Some college students, usually freshmen and sophomores, leave school and delve into the warmth and fun of summer, carefree and cool. While this is taking place, others like juniors and seniors, are jumping in to the internship or job world, surrounded by working people and structure that doesn't stop just because it's "summer break." The two kinds of summer.
All play, no work.
Ahh, those were the days. And for the lucky ones, they still are. Breathe in the fresh summer air because it doesn't last forever. Wake up at ten, go outside and play with the dogs, go on a run or a walk, have lunch with friends, go to the beach, vibe at night, and put this on repeat.
It is not until you grow older and truly miss these summer days. Don't take them for granted. Spending the entire summer at the beach, a luxury some forget.
All work, no play.
The time of fun is over. Delving into the world of internships has become oh so real. Some, working eight hours a day for no pay, building their resume and preparing themselves for the future. Others, working hard and making money, getting a taste for what post grad life is truly like.
Some decide to live a structured life throughout the summer months, truly preparing themselves for what is ahead. Wake up at six, workout, shower and venture off to work, come home to eat dinner, and if some are lucky enough, dive into an online course.
Overall, summer is ahead. Whether it be a summer of all play, work, or a summer of all work, no play, summer is still summer. Filled with no school, whether you're working or relaxing, you still get to see your family and sink into your own bed each night.
Soon enough, you won't be a college student anymore and summer break won't be summer break anymore. Enjoy it while you can.
