Celebrity drama has become an enigma. Is it genuine or is it fake? Is it all a ploy for attention? I've become skeptical of the whole celebrity persona, wondering if these people we see everyday plastered all over gossip sites and magazines are really who they say they are or fooling us all with a false but ideal personality we all wish we could have. The whole Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian fued is no different.
I'm not a fan of either side, never been fond of Taylor Swift's demeanor or Kim Kardashian's, so I ask myself why should I even care about this conflict which was almost like a high school Twitter fight. Of course, social media literally blew up, exploding with support for either side, voicing their opinions on the matter that in fact they have ALWAYS hated Taylor Swift when they literally just loved her several months ago when 1989 was released. They suddenly stand behind Kim Kardashian even though just the other week they thought she was annoying.
I'm not saying opinions can't change but it's almost as if we depend on this celebrity drama to drive our thoughts on what we should think of a person. Like I said before, I've never been a fan of either person. With Taylor Swift's constant victimization of herself and gatherings of her closest "friends" who just so happen to be very famous, it's not hard to see through it. I believe there's always a catch to what a celebrity does in the public eye, it's hard to trust that there isn't a motive behind it and I think Taylor Swift's smart with that.
Then there's the supposed power couple Kanye West and Kim Kardashian who don't interest me that much. Kanye's arrogance and rude behavior has never appealed to me so I can't get behind that. When I'm a fan of someone, I like to think I can relate to them in some way which is something I could never do with him or any of the Kardashian family, who are notorious for deliberate PR stunts and doing what they can for attention.
In the long run, I'm glad someone caught Taylor Swift in a tricky situation to prove that celebrities do use certain things for attention whether it's truthful or not. But then on the other hand this could also be a PR stunt and both sides are in on it because attention is what they want. In a few weeks, I'm sure one of them will do something that makes everyone hate or love them again.
