Whether you love them, hate them, want to be them, or try really hard not to keep up with them, you more than likely heard about Kim Kardashian West's robbery in Paris this past weekend. Think what you might about the famous family, but let's get one thing straight: At the end of the day, Kim is a person like you and me and she just experienced the most horrific thing of her life.
Let's try to set the scene a little bit here. Men whom you don't know from a country where they don't speak your native language enter your apartment. They tie you up and they start gagging you. You have a husband, two little kids at home, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. At that point in time, they have no idea what is happening to you. At the exact moment, the apartment was broken into, your mom could have been eating dinner just like any other day. Your brother could have been just taking a shower or going for a ride in his car. All while you are being robbed and they have no idea.
Not to mention the gun being pointed at your head. While you're being yelled at and held hostage and giving up your belongings to strangers, you think about how at any moment these men could take your life faster than you could beg for them not to. At any moment, your husband could be left without his wife and your children to grow up without their mother.
You can't yell for help, you can't defend yourself, and you can't think of anything other than wanting it all to be over.
A PERSON WAS ROBBED. And harassed. And embarrassed. And taken advantage of. And treated like a piece of property. And was left feeling week and helpless. Not a celebrity, not someone with millions of followers. A person. A mother, a daughter, a wife, a sister, a friend, a loved one.
And it could happen to anyone.
