Last Week, Reality star and mom of two Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in her hotel room in France, attending a fashion event. Since then there has been so many controversy and rumors on whether this terrifying robbery is actual truth or a fabricated lie from Kim herself.
, Of course, this is something Newsworthy in the Hollywood world, something that all stations and article companies are making sure they get the information on this. And with this comes responses from two opposing sides, those on the victim's side, and those who don’t believe in the victim.
Kim Kardashian is a well known American reality TV socialite, which is what everyone knows when they hear her name, but she is so much more than that, she is a businesswoman, model, wife, and a mother. Yet with all the wealth that she has, and all the fashion experience in her life, her choice in what she chooses to wear to the streets and the posts she puts on her social media… there will be those who see this horrifying incident, as something well deserved for her. And that’s not right.
It's 2016, and social media has become major in our generations and will always be from now on as our technology keeps advancing. Social media has changed the way that we value ourselves because now everyone has the ability to post a picture or send a message in hopes to reach someone's attention. The standards of beauty are ever-changing when it comes to social media, in which most women try to attain in hopes that if it makes one woman happy, it will make another woman feel the same way. Social media could almost be the age of narcissism, but it does not mean that women get what they 'deserve' when they are held at gunpoint in the safety of their room.
Women are allowed to post pictures of themselves in a crop top and some short shorts, they are allowed to post pictures of them in their swimsuits and even birthday suits. It does not make a woman less of herself, it's not her intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable, or to judge her, but it's her allowing herself to show her pride, her courage, and self-love in her body and her image.
Social Media has also changed the way we view women too. Lots of women in society today will post a picture that might not please everyone's eyes, it may make someone think that they have no value or dignity in themselves, or that they are seeking attention, which is what many say about Kim Kardashian. Many claim that she got what she deserved for showing off her riches and glam, but we also would do the same if we were given a very shiny diamond gift from our loving husband.
These negative responses are what make women feel as though they can never speak out against sexual assault, rape, and harassment. This is what makes Kim K believe that she is at fault for her own attack.
All thoughts, and biased opinions on Kim Kardashian aside...Kim Kardashian is a victim of this robbery, whether you claim the story was faked. As English comedian and TV hosts, James Corden states "Kim Kardashian is a mother and a daughter and wife", regardless of her reputation in society, she is a woman who was held at gunpoint by a group of men, men in which could have taken a robbery farther to something that many women have nightmares about. Kim Kardashian is a strong woman and her bravery through this is inspirational.
