5 Ways To Kill Time At The Airport When Your Flight Is Inevitably Delayed

Go shopping, get a massage, or even get a drink or two.

Don't get me wrong, I love traveling. I don't even mind packing. I love planning, making to-do lists, basically anything that has to do with my upcoming trip. But what I do NOT enjoy is a delayed flight. I sit there, slouched over in my seat, waiting to run into the plane as soon as boarding is announced.

How could something that requires little to no physical activity be so exhausting? Ironically enough, I'm sitting in the waiting area of my airport gate as I type this. If you have parents like mine who like to get to the airport 5 hours early, then you have a lot of time to kill. Here are some ways you can pass that time.

Sleep

AKA one of my favorite pastimes. You can always catch up on some ZZZ's. Sleeping is the fastest way to kill time, in my opinion. And if you're like me, then there's never a time when you're not in the mood for a nap.

Get work done

Whether it's schoolwork, emails you have to send, or a paper you have to write, you know there is always something you have to do that you've been pushing off. So why not just get it over with now? It's not like you have anything better to do.

Call a friend

It's always fun catching up with friends. It's a great way to pass time, too. So go ahead and call that person you've been meaning to catch up with.

Explore

There's so much to do in an airport. And sometimes, sitting for long periods of time can make you even more tired. So get up, walk around, and explore the airport you're in. Go shopping, get a massage, or even get a drink or two.

EAT

Is there truly anything better than FOOD? The answer is no. There's so much to eat and drink at airports. So why not grab a bite or two before your flight? Airplane food usually sucks so I'd suggest buying stocking up on snacks for the flight.

Hopefully, it's finally time for you to board. If not, start at the top of this list, and REPEAT. Bon voyage!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
