To my future children this I promise you,
I promise to try my hardest to give you everything you want, but I don't want to spoil you. I will work as hard as possible to make your dreams come true. Every parent wants to give their kid all the things that they never had growing up. I hope I can do that for you and more. I promise to embarrass you and also be the "cool mom."
I promise to give you all the affection that you could ever want. This includes endless hugs and kisses. I feel like that is a given for every parent to want to love on their child.Maybe one day you'll be "too cool" for your mom's hugs and kisses, but no matter how old you get I'll always be there as a shoulder to cry on.
I promise to let you fail on your own but to teach you so you can better yourself. I was raised to believe that failure is the best way to learn. My mom and dad would let me mess up and then be right there to catch me when I fell. You have to try your best in all things, but sometimes you are going to fail and that's okay.I'm going to help you dust yourself off and keep going. That's the only thing you can do.
I promise to instill in you the value of hard work. upon reaching a certain age you will have to work for what you want. Want to go to that concert? You'll have to work for it. You got grounded and want your phone back? You're going to have to work for that too. Hard work is important and finishing something is important too. You're going to want to quit and you're going to get mad because you can't, but I promise it'll be worth it.
I promise to be the foundation on which you will grow and develop your future. Above all else, I am going to show you love. How to love yourself and how to love others. Love is the foundation of life. I know that sounds super cheesy, but it's true. No matter what you do or where you go you'll always have and be able to show love to someone else.
