The wildly popular augmented reality game "Pokemon Go!" has created some previously unforeseen dangers, such as walking into oncoming traffic, jumping from piers in hopes of catching water Pokemon, and winding up on different continents.
A young boy (who's parents requested he not be named...Voldemort, is that you?!) has stunned people around the globe when he sheepishly asked a Nepalese citizen to use her cellphone to call his parents.
The unidentified boy (to whom we'll refer to as "Tom"...Tom Riddle...Voldemort...He Who Shall Not Be Named...I'm funny) seemed wholeheartedly confused as to how he wound up in a completely different country...let alone continent...from his hometown in Alabama.
"I have literally no idea how I got here. One moment I was trying to find a Pikachu that was in the area; the next, I see Mount Everest in the distance," Tom recalled. Apparently there was also an Eevee at the summit of Everest; however, Tom thought it would be in his better interest to call his parents than pursue the Eevee.
Tom's friends and online-warrior supporters are incredibly miffed about his negligence the negligence of the people who created the game. They've created an online petition to ease the financial burden of the poor family who had to fly their child home from Nepal. Airfare isn't cheap there, guys, so donate what you can.
Tom was the first child to wind up thousands of miles from home after playing Pokemon Go!, but he certainly won't be the last. Many users are chiming in online to report that they, too, have looked down at their phone to find pokemon and have wound up somewhere completely different.
Although Pokemon Go! is promoting fitness by making users walk, it's also bringing out the worst in some people. It was recently reported that a family of ducks was plowed over by an overzealous 28-year-old neckbeard trying to chase a Squirtle in a state park.
Rest in Peace, LoriAnn and your children. You were just trying to beg people for bread; instead, you got pummeled into the ground by someone who never left their house before Pokemon Go! was released. What a cruel world we live in.
