What does it take to raise a child or children a day? As parents shouldn't we provide them with their needs, which is food, clothing, and shelter. If there is money left over then their wants can be provided. But, since when have phones, computers, games, cars, and designer clothes become needs.
Kevin Federline and Britney Spears are in the news again, because he is suing her for more child support. He already receives $20,000 a month and wants $60,000 a month. Really, do you know what I could do with $20,000 a month, I would put it away for my children's future. What does anyone do with $20,000 a month? Federline's claim is as their children have gotten older it's getting harder to care for them at "Briney's level." He states that he is no longer earning a six-figure income as a dancer, singer, or DJ.
This past year Britney Spears made roughly $475,00 per show during her Las Vegas residency. As of December 2017, Britney Spears was worth 215 million dollars. The Spears responded to Kevin Federline's request by offering to put him on a child support budget for their two children. Which to me doesn't sound unreasonable, the Spears legal team contends that they want to make sure that the money is spent on their children and not Federline's other four children. It was also stated that if Kevin Federline is interested in taking the boys on vacation or would like to purchase a large item for the boys all he would have to do is request it. Britney has no problem providing for her boys and pays for their private school and anything else that they do when in custody of their mother.
I find the Spears legal team's request reasonable because it's not an uncommon practice for custodial parents in normal financial situations to have to provide a detail report on what child support is spent on.
Looking at my finances and the amount of money that I spend on my child in a month minus the necessities is roughly $600 and that is on the high end. It includes her extracurricular activities, cell phone, and gas, so the idea of having $20,000 a month just for two children is unbelievable.
I understand that Britney Spears makes an extreme amount of money, but if Kevin Federline is no longer successful in his chosen profession isn't reasonable to expect him to obtain a job making more income. Of course, it would not be in the range of Britney Spears but I am curious who supports the other four children he has?
While I understand that child support is based on the noncustodial parent's income, I firmly agree that the custodial parent should provide information on that money is spent. If they were still married that information would be easily available to both parents but because they are no longer together should the noncustodial parent be penalized? Then factoring in that Federline has four other children, as a parent, I totally understand the request made by the Spears legal team. If I was providing that amount in child support to my children's father and he had multiple children from two other women, why is it unreasonable to have to provide proof that the money is being spent on the two children that they have together.
