NBA(National Basketball Association) superstar Kevin Durant made his decision to sign with the Golden State Warriors The decision to go there was heavily criticized by fans and former NBA superstars and current ones. His decision was more about business rather than worrying what others had to say about it. Me, personally, I am neither against nor with the decision. I want to see how it pans out because he signed a two-year deal where he can opt out of the contract next year. If the Warriors fail to win the NBA Championship, he can look at signing with other teams again. The money plays a factor as well because Stephen Curry becomes a free agent next summer. They need to pay him since he deserves that money after being the two-time NBA MVP (Most Valuable Player) and winning an NBA Championship. The money that is going to be available will be hard for their organization to distribute with their superstars. If he stays for the two years of his contract, they will have to find a way to pay him.
The criticism of KD, I do not understand. I feel as though he did the same thing that Lebron James did in the summer of 2010 when he signed with the Miami Heat. The only differences between the two in their decisions is that KD went to a team with more superstars and he went to the team that beat him in the conference finals. Out of all comments that were made about this KD decision, I agree that this was a weak move on his part. KD could have stayed with the Oklahoma City Thunder and got better and beat the Warriors the next season. This situation reminds me of Michael Jordan— during his career with the Chicago Bulls, he could not beat the Detroit Pistons. He got better and finally beat them. Now he is considered the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time).
The goal of basketball is to become an NBA Champion. KD is considered one of the best players in the game but he won't be talked about as being the best to ever play the game because he is ringless. KD wants to be an NBA Champion so he can be one of the best to ever play the game by coming to a stacked team of the Warriors. At the end of the day, it is his choice and I wish him the best of luck.
