It's truly been a rocky road for former Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Durant would leave OKC and his teammate, Westbrook to sign with the team who managed to defeat them in a 3-1 deficit, The Golden State Warriors. This would send the former MVP to join up with reigning MVP Stephen Curry and leave his former star point guard on his own. Westbrook, going on his contract year decided to extend his contract with OKC for three more years.
This sparked drama everywhere leading to a ton of speculation, rumors, and hate towards the former OKC star and Westbrook. An article from Bleacher Report had reported that people close to Westbrook had stated that he was not only hurt, but angry at Durant for his decision. The Thunder point guard didn't give a comment on the report, unless you count a laugh when asked by an NBA fan.
When Durant was asked about offering his congrats to Westbrook contract he responded,
"Nah, that's a touchy subject. I'll see once everything dies down."
Tons of memes, reports and other internet speculation led people to believe the former OKC Thunder Duo have turned their backs on each other and the friendship they once had is gone, or in some sort of very awkward state which is likely, even Oklahoma City Thunder center Enes Kanter joined in on the fun poking fun at Durant's decision with Westbrook's contract extension.

Despite all that, Durant attended a Nike event at the University of Texas in Austin on Friday, and was asked about where his relationship with his former star point guard stood.
"We’re still cool." said Durant "We’re going to compete against each other at the highest level. We’re gonna have fun against each other. We’re still cool."
No comment has come from Westbrook or Durant about catching up or staying in contact, but we can take Durant's comment as a sign that everything between them is okay, Former OKC Star is joining the 73-9 Warriors in hopes of an NBA Title, and Westbrook will stay in OKC to record even more triple doubles. Fans can only anticipate the next time they can see the duo reunited, and Warriors at OKC is a game you won't want to miss.
