Want To Shedding Summer Pounds?: The Keto Diet

It's summertime and people all around the world are feeling the pressure to lose a couple of pounds to get the perfect beach body. This is when fad diets tend to gain a ton of followers who are in search of a quick fix to their problems. One diet caught my eye after reading about recent success stories. The Ketogenic Diet.

The Ketogenic -- or Keto -- Diet requires that you eat very low amounts of carbohydrates and opt instead for a diet mainly composed of fat and some protein. This type of diet allows your body to be more efficient in breaking down fat and boosts metabolism. One side effect of this diet is the fact that it can affect your insulin levels pretty drastically. This can either be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. But the most important thing about this diet is the fact that bacon is good for you!

This diet relies on fat bombs, bacon, and eggs to help you reach a state of ketosis. It's not exactly normal to hear that you can have those things on a regular basis when you're "dieting" is it?

The health community has done it yet again by offering up a diet that is stated to help with a multitude of health problems. From heart disease to cancer to acne this diet is one that has claimed to help it all. While normally this would raise a lot of suspicion, it's hard to deny real results! A Reddit community r/Keto has pictures and success stories galore of people who have tried this diet and succeeded.

If you decide to give this diet a shot to get your beach body or start a lifestyle change, here's a tip: avoid getting the keto flu by adding a cup or two of broth to your daily diet during the first week. This will give you enough sodium and other nutrients to help keep your body from revolting against you. Before you decide to give this diet a try please remember to talk to a licensed professional to ensure that it's a healthy choice for you.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
