As someone who as always been a fan of Kenny Chesney, I was more than excited when I got tickets to his 2016 Spread The Love Tour. His tour featured Old Dominion, Sam Hunt, and Miranda Lambert. Pretty much, it was the most amazing country concert ever.
The concert was, needless to say, incredible. Kenny sang all of his greatest hits, and Sam Hunt was the epitome of perfection. I have never had so much fun at a concert in my whole life, and tailgating before the concert was equally as fun. One thing that never crossed my mind however was the amount of garbage tossed around the parking lot...until the concert was over.
As I tried to leave Hienz Field in a huge swarm if people, I kicked countless beer cans, empty jello shot containers, and mounds of bags and paper. I didn't think much of it. I figured wow, we sure know how to party here in Pittsburgh.
Sadly, the next day I saw countless news articles about how trashed Pittsburgh was. I had no idea that every time Kenny Chesney, or really anyone comes to town, we are the concert city that makes the biggest mess.

According to The Pittsburgh Tribune- Review, over 48 tons of garbage was left laying around Heinz Field after the Kenny Chesney concert by the 40,000 attendants.
Over the years Kenny Chesney concerts have been the trashiest (literally) concerts Pittsburgh hosts. The garbage problem was a little better this year, but it never fails that a day or two after the Kenny Chesney concert our Facebook feeds are flooded with articles about how disgusting his Pittsburgh fans are.
I just have one question for all of us attendees: do we have no shame? Do we just not care? Every year we are bashed on how dirty and disgraceful we are to our city, yet nothing changes. Every year we destroy Pittsburgh for a night in honor of the No Shoes Nation. For what?
Do we think Kenny or the world is impressed by how hard we party and how trashy we get? With all the talk of our planet dying because humans are too lazy to clean up after ourselves, you'd think we'd take a little more care of our community instead of just caring about how buzzed we get before the second band comes on stage.
Kenny Chesney is an awesome concert and always will be, but lets keep ours and the medias focus on his music, not our litter.
