We have officially entered a new decade, and it feels like everyone is more eager than ever to start fresh. New Year's resolutions serve as the markers of change and new beginnings, but we have all been in the position of making a resolution and failing to commit to it. There are a number of reasons why so many people simply don't stick to their resolutions throughout the year; however, there are steps that you can take to ensure that whatever you want to achieve in the year comes to fruition.

Primarily, it is important to be as specific as possible when deciding on a resolution. People often times create so many different resolutions that it can eventually become overwhelming. It is necessary to firstly prioritize one resolution, or one goal that you find most significant to you. By doing so, you'll be able to focus your time and attention on that one particular purpose and produce successful results. Once you have found that you have reached one objective, you'll then be able to divert your energy towards another one.

Secondly, be realistic. This is not to deter you from dreaming big, because no dream is too big or aim too high to reach. On the contrary, you have to be aware of the feasibility of the kinds of goals you create for yourself. For example, if your resolution is to start a successful business that will generate a lot of profit for you in a time period of 6 months, you have to consider the realistic possibilities of achieving quick financial success in a short time frame. It is obvious that you can aim to create a new business and have a lot of success with it, but such an ambition takes time and patience. It is common for people to get disheartened when they are not seeing results as quickly as they would like, and this often makes them give up. The way to combat this is to be realistic with your goals, stay patient and be satisfied with your progress.

Thirdly, stay dedicated to your resolution even if you fail at times. You cannot expect yourself to be perfect with your resolution; there will be times where it might not work out for you whether that includes not having the desire to go to the gym or eating sugar when you want to quit. You're human, and you can't possibly demand perfection from yourself. You might stray from your resolution at times, but if you are willing to stay committed to it, don't let your small, occasional failures prevent you from moving forward with it. Remember, success is never a straight path.

Resolutions are often made for the New Year, but it is important to note that resolutions can be made and changed at any time of the year. Knowing this can help you realize that you can decide to change your life at any moment in the year. With persistent action, dedication and patience, you'll be able to achieve remarkable success.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
