FIGHT - BELIEVE - HOPE
Having boobs doesn't define who you are, it doesn't symbol femininity and boobs aren't worth risking your life over. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month; slogans say Save the Tata's, BOOBIES WIN and Save the HOOTERS. I've always been a realist, let's face it, men notice tits. Half the time when a guy approaches me he doesn't ever look at me straight in the face. It's my name is blah and I like your tits (okay maybe it doesn't go like that but you know what I mean). It's no wonder plastic surgeons make a fortune. Everyone wants boobies, Caitlin Jenner wanted to be a woman, and she went and got boobies because apparently having boobs is what it means to be a WOMAN. The motto of America is "you don't like something about yourself; fix it". I'm right there with some people, I hate my nose. I've tried telling my brother, the next time you want to throw something, how about you throw it in the direction of my nose. My point is that everyone has something they hate about themselves but not having boobs, the smallest nose, the perfect skin or whatever it may be doesn't make you any less of a man or a woman because of it and it's definitely not worth losing your life.
Cancer is an a*shole, I've never had it, but both my grandmothers are breast cancer survivors. I will tell you, if I woke up with a lump on my breast, I wouldn't hesitate to tell the doctor to cut these suckers off. Take them off, I'd gladly not put on my bra for the rest of my life. For God's sake, they hurt my back, and after the day is over, there is nothing I love more than throwing that damn thing on the floor.
I don't know about you but after horrible Mondays I pull out magazines, like I do every week, and I devour them. Today, it took me a little longer because I was disgusted at a man's reaction to his wife CHOOSING to cut her boobs off because she had breast cancer. She was going to fight for her life and fight to live for her kids. I don't know if her husband got hit with a brick at birth or what but that's beside the point. So to you men out there (especially that bozo, who is one stop away from being the next act on the traveling circus) who care more about the boobies than the woman, listen up, because I've got something to say to you, drop your playboy magazine. Breast cancer is real, women die because of it, everyday 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed. Children lose their mothers; husbands lose their wives. Breast cancer is NOT to be messed with.
If you are going to judge your wife for making a choice about her health, then shame on you. No one ever tells a man "Honey, ugh can you go to the plastic surgeon and get a penis enlargement." Like no, a woman would just live with it because she is in love with her husband and physical characteristics do NOT define who you are.
So be a man and live without boobies. Choosing to cut your boobs off to save your life, to fight for your life, to fight to watch your kids grow-up, to fight to be alive to see your kids have kids and to become a grandmother is worth the scares.
Being a woman is more than boobs, it's more than talking like a woman, it's more than putting that bra on in the morning and applying the makeup. Being a woman is beautiful, being a woman is powerful, being a woman is strength, being a woman is being brave. Being a woman means having scars and loving yourself. Being a woman is having a voice and using your voice to make your own choices and to be your own person. Being a woman allows you to carry another human being and to give birth to something beautiful.
Breast Cancer awareness begins with:
EDUCATION:
Learn the facts about breast cancer, learn about your family history and which women in your family had it, ask questions when you go to the doctor- no question is ever stupid, the only stupid questions are the questions you never asked.
GETTING A MAMMOGRAM:
I know machines are scary, going to the doctor is scary, but you know what's scarier? Finding a lump. Get yearly mammograms and then get your nails done after.
SELF CHECKING YOUR OWN BOOBIES:
It's never too early to start self-checking your boobs, more young adult women should start doing it. If you are a man, you can be affected by breast cancer. 1 in 400 men in the UK are diagnosed every year.
There is more to you than your boobs and if you are faced with the choice of cutting off your boobs and fighting for your life, I hope you choose it, because you can always get new boobs, but your children won't be able to get a new you. Take it from a person who lost her father, I would do anything to have my dad, I can't replace him and your children won't be able to replace you. If your husband leaves you because you made a choice to fight, then he is the a**hole and losing your boobs will become something that made you stronger.
