This whole thing with the Confederate Flag is outrageous! The flag represents apart of American History and is part of some people culture like my own. Everybody deserves their own opinion about the flag but let’s remember something, there are African-Americans that have confederate flags on the back of their truck. I myself know a few African-Americans that have confederate flags. Another thing that makes me mad about this thing is that we are more likely to get mad over the confederate than others stepping on the American Flag! Now that is outrageous.
But anyway let’s break down what the colors of the Confederate stands for… Red represents hardiness, bravery, strength and valor. White represents purity, peace and honesty and Christians also tribute the usage of white in a flag as a sign of allegiance to God and his son. Blue is vigilance, truth and loyalty, perseverance and justice. The Stars on the flag represents the thirteen states of the Confederacy: South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, and Kentucky. The Cross what looks like and “X” actually represents the cross of Saint Andrew. Andrew was the first disciple of Jesus who later in life became a martyr. It is reported that when the Roman Government was sent to crucified him he protested and was crucified in the form of the x as he did not feel worthy to die in the same manner as Jesus.
Now does anywhere in this explanation does it say anything about racism or hatred toward blacks. Let’s also remember that for years (and I mean years) we were able to fly the flag and talk about the flag without any mention of racism towards blacks.
The war between the states destroyed our nation and tore it apart, and now people are acting like the flag is a representative of that hatred. Now that is their right to believe that the flag represents hatred but let’s also remember that the people fought, bleed and died while carrying the flag into battle for what they believed in. The flag also represents culture and heritage to some people, not just rednecks who are generally associated with the flag, but both the north and the south (some of whom are not rednecks) still fly the flag high and proud.
There are more important things that need to be addressed more than just the flag. For example, we need to focus more of our attention on the whole gun problem in the states. Another is that we need to further help the veterans of past wars. For us, as Americans, we get fed up with people flying the confederate flag instead of being fed up with unemployment, and the fact that we can not help our veterans out is just not right.
We as Americans need to respect each other and their beliefs. If they fly the confederate then we need to let them do so. Ever hear the expression if you don’t have nothing nice to say than don’t say it all and in that case keep your dang mouth shut about it. So if you have the confederate flag don’t put it away keep ‘em flying high and proud.
