Through time and time again, we learn life lessons, make mistakes and grow as people. One of the hardest things in life (I think) is learning to accept being the bigger person and going on with life, as if unaffected. As you progress you'll meet people in your life who are intended to stay put forever in your heart and others who will not. You will meet people who you won't like, and you'll meet even more people who will only disappoint you in the end. Through hell or high waters, remember to keep your head up no matter what.

People get a rise out of seeing others fail. Grudges are the most malicious for a person because they become so consuming. You will meet bullies in your life, not just those who will take your lunch money at recess but those who will be sneakier, more sly and will come after more than just lunch money.

The goal here is to remind yourself of a few things when you encounter people like this in your life.

For starters, those people thrive off of you being put down. Don't fuel that energy of theirs, instead be the bigger person. Don't let the comments and negative actions to get in your way of your life and your success. Comparing your life to theirs, I can assure they're on a fast track to the same thing, same position they've been doing they're whole entire life. You are advancing, your moving, don't get caught up in someone else's shenanigans.

These "bullies" have some type of insecurity or void in their life they are trying to make up for. Do not stoop down to their level, instead kill them with kindness. Kill them with your success. They will try to discredit you, tear you down, hurt you indirectly and make you question yourself. You are so much more intelligent to fall into that trap.

Keep your head up, if you fall, get right back up. Show strength and resilience and you can come out victorious. Stay focused on your goals. Stay kind, and patient and continue to stay true to you. Meet new people, and don't be afraid to get close to people. Those who disappoint, let them loose of your life and those who enlighten and uplift you, surround yourself with those people.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
