I Know It's Too Late But Here's Why Kavanaugh Should Not Be On The Supreme Court

Political stances aside, someone's past should always be taken into account, especially when deciding the next Supreme Court judge.

Compassionate, wise, sensible and reliable are all seemingly obvious characteristics that politicians, who are literally running an entire country of 325.7 million people, should possess. Confusingly enough, there has been an odd theme among our recently appointed leaders where nobody has these assets.

Previously a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and a staff lawyer for multiple offices of the U.S. government through nominations by George W. Bush, Judge Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court on October 6th, 2018. Despite Kavanaugh being accused by three different women on three separate drunken occasions of sexual assault, the Senate voted 50-48 in approval for the new judge.

Experienced? Yes. Qualified? No.

I believe we are witnessing a nation that is neglecting to include attributes of a genuinely considerate human being when determining who is the best fit to become a member of the United States Government. Brett Kavanaugh is not capable of handling accusations in a mature manner and acknowledging that others have been hurt by him.

While watching Kavanaugh's hearing, one can observe his repetitive nature in responding to claims he does not fully want to admit to. To anybody who is capable of reading thoughts and emotions through someone's gestures, actions, and facial expressions, it is clear that the judge is stuttering in fear he will be caught guilty. The entire dynamic of the hearing is similar to a child's playdate.

Personality traits are equally important in this situation and the oblivion to Kavanaugh's frantic demeanor is terrifying. I would have significant amounts of respect for him if he had portrayed the attitude of "I hear you and I am sorry but I do not believe that my past has a reflection in my work." Simply acting appropriately to his accusations would make his nomination somewhat reasonable because it would show he has integrity and is empathetic.

However, we must not forget that Brett Kavanaugh has sexually assaulted women in the past so one can only guess his misogynistic viewpoint will have effects in his future career and America.

Did SNL even need to make a skit out of this hearing?

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
