I Can't Believe These 'Survivors' Of 'Sexual Assault'

I'm looking at you Christine Ford (& Deborah Ramirez & Julie Swetnick)

What did you survive?

As far as any court, investigation or lawyer can prove, you didn't survive anything.

Christine Ford came forth with daring allegations of sexual assault in July of 2018, three months before Judge Brett Kavanaugh would be confirmed as the next Supreme Court Justice.

Yet, her allegations were released the night prior to his confirmation hearing.

It does not take a genius to surmise the gravity of the situation. With midterm elections just around the corner, and Democrats are hoping to regain seats in the Senate and potentially thwart President Trump's supreme court nominees, the perfectly timed release of said allegations have now become front and center in American politics.

Democrats are adamant that Dr. Ford's testimony be heard –– which, frankly speaking, is null as the statute of limitations prevents any legal action from being taken against the accused Kavanaugh.

I agree Dr. Ford should be able to share her side of the story.

But that is all. Even if there was evidence, the case can no longer be tried, again due to the statute of limitations. The fact that there currently is no evidence all the more supports Kavanaugh's defense.

Yet, organizations around the country, politicians, and celebrities are calling for Kavanaugh to withdraw his name from the nomination simply because he has been accused of horrendous allegations that have no concrete evidence of support. Some are calling Dr. Ford's testimony "historic", while others are hailing her a hero.

Christine Ford is no hero.

Christine Ford has made allegations, and the response to these allegations are destroying not only Brett Kavanaugh and his family, but even Dr. Ford, who did not want her identity being released.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

If you truly think that Democrats want to hear Dr. Ford's testimony because they believe in justice for those supposedly sexually assaulted, then you are severely misguided.

South Carolinians just nominated Democrat Archie Parnell for the U.S House despite Parnell being accused of beating his former wife in the '70's. For a party steadfast on holding the accused accountable for their actions, they sure know how to turn a blind eye when the accused fall in line with their political beliefs.

All Democrats are concerned with is preventing the Senate from confirming Judge Kavanaugh, even if that means tarnishing the name and reputation of an innocent (until proven guilty) man. These allegations are baseless, with Dr. Ford claiming that not only can she not recall when or where it happened, but every witness that she has mentioned has denied her claim and has no recollection of any type of incident.

What's interesting is that Dr. Ford can't even recall how she got to and from the party, again eliminating another possibility about finding a witness to attest to her claims.

Two other women have also come forward alleging sexual assault, that is Deborah Ramirez and Julie Swetnick.

However, both women are unreliable. Ramirez claims that she was so drunk she could barely remember anything (but she conveniently could remember Kavanaugh apparently exposing himself) and could only clarify her foggy memory after consulting with her lawyer for six days (because obviously, her lawyer can help jog her memory). There is no evidence for her claims.

Swetnick, on the other hand, alleges that she was the victim of a gang rape which was witnessed by Kavanaugh (although she did not name him as one of her attackers) and that Kavanaugh and his friends would line "up by a bedroom to assault incapacitated girls."

Furthermore, she alleges that Kavanaugh allegedly harassed other women at said parties by forcibly groping them.

Amazing. She was so appalled by the alleged 'gang rapes' that not only did she not report it to the police, but she continued to go to these parties in order to witness the sexual assaults.

Sounds like a concerned citizen to me!

Furthermore, Richard Vinneccy, Swetnick's ex-boyfriend, had to file a restraining order against Swetnick due to the constant harassment and threats made to his wife and child. He believes that her statements are not "credible at all". It is also important to note that Swetnick used Debra Katz, the attorney representing Christine Ford, to represent herself in another sexual harassment claim years prior.

(And for the record, none of the alleged victims have come forward for any of the above accusations made by Swetnick.)

Over sixty of Kavanaugh's former classmates have come forward to defend Kavanaugh. Yet, these baseless accusations are what makes headlines.

There is no evidence to support any of these claims, and yet suddenly they are undoubtedly true. If we no longer live in a nation where you are innocent until proven guilty, what kind of nation are we living in?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
