Kathy Griffin Needs To Stop Playing The Blame Game

President Trump did not break you, you broke yourself.

I am sure you have all seen or heard about the “breaking news” Kathy Griffin photo-shoot where the “comedian” is holding an imitation of President Trump’s head covered in “blood”. If you have not seen it yet, don’t. It’s quite disturbing. Turns out, her “joke” was not all that funny. She was fired from CNN and lost many of her gigs, but of course that was President Trump’s fault. He “broke” her and “ruined” her career. Of course it was nothing she did. Donald Trump was definitely the “bully” in this situation. I mean, he sent out a tweet about her. He ruined her life with that tweet. In case you haven’t seen the absurd tweet yet it reads, “Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!” -@realDonaldTrump.

In Kathy Griffin’s press conference, she said that she truly felt that President Trump and his family was trying to ruin her life forever. He apparently “picked her” to “bully”. Are you kidding me? She literally held up an imitation of him beheaded, and claimed he ruined her life because he responded to it with a tweet? Who really ruined her life here?

While the beheaded President Trump head disturbed me, what disturbs me even more is Kathy Griffin’s failure to accept responsibility for her actions. It disturbs me because this is the way the world is moving. People refuse to accept consequences for their actions, and instead turn to blame it on everyone else. Kathy Griffin claimed that she realized she messed up, and if she would have left it at that, I would have been perfectly satisfied with her apology. Okay, she made a mistake and she took responsibility for it – that is the ADULT thing to do. Of course she could not leave it there though. She had to go on to blame white males, President Trump, and his kids – basically anything she could find to put the blame on, she did. Oh, and she said that he was using her as a “shiny object” to keep people from talking about his “FBI investigation”, the one that former FBI Director James Comey said did not even exist during his hearing on June 8th. She purposely put herself out there as a “shiny object”, but did not receive the reaction she thought she would.

It is not acceptable to fail to take responsibility for your actions, I do not care who you are. President Trump should take responsibility for his actions just as Kathy Griffin should. Just as I should. Kathy Griffin ruined her own life. She irresponsibly posed for a controversial photo and created the buzz she was trying to get, but her audience did not find her funny this time. Her employers didn’t either. President Trump did not ruin Kathy Griffin, Kathy Griffin ruined Kathy Griffin.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
