Kate Voegele. If you haven't heard the name, I'm stunned, because Kate Voegele music is the background music to my life. Her soulful sound and empowering lyrics are my go-to, no matter what mood I find myself in for the day. I first started listening Kate Voegele when she joined the series One Tree Hill as Mia Catalano. Like Peyton and Haley, from the first notes, I was hooked. I fell in love with her music instantly. Here are a few reasons that you should check out the "bohemian soul from the birthplace of rock and roll."

1. Listening to Kate is a surefire way to brighten even your worst day.

Roll the windows down, get some fresh air after a long day, and sing your heart out. Don't be ashamed.

2. Her songs have the most empowering lyrics that will make you feel like you are on top of the world.

Feeling overwhelmed by life? Not after you listen to Kate! She has such a way of singing and writing lyrics powerful enough to make you feel like you can conquer the world. Girl power!

3. Her songs are completely unique in every way.

Why listen to the same boring songs on the radio that seem to all sound the same when you can listen to Kate? Her songs have meaning. You can either sit quietly and truly listen to the lyrics (and actually understand what she is saying) or sing along as loud as you want. Either way, you felt like you went on a journey to somewhere a little better than where you started, after a Kate Voegele track.

4. The Smoky Eye. Just look at her.

The self-professed "live and die by the smoky eye", Kate Voegele has rock star style.

5. Small concert venues, the way music is meant to be enjoyed.

Good music is meant to be enjoyed up close and personal. If you can experience an artist's music along with them as they perform it for you, it brings the music alive. Enjoying Kate Voegele live in some of Cleveland's premier little concert venues is the way to best appreciate kick ass rock and roll.

6. Kate is good to her fans!

This meet and greet with Kate was such an amazing experience. She chatted with me like we had been best friends for years and happily signed my "One Tree Hill" dvd's. So. Cool.

7. "Must Be Summertime"

Obsessed with this song. This is the ultimate summer anthem. Definitely check it out on Amazon! The music video is absolutely awesome, too.

8. Fun and interesting

Because who doesn't want to follow their super cool favorite artist on snapchat? Kate frequently posts things that people actually care about! Kate keeps her fans up to date, shares what is motivating her in the moment, and frequently expresses her love for our very own CLE!

9. She truly loves Cleveland...Really

She's a rockstar and she loves her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio...what more could you want? And yes, she was thrilled when Cleveland became champions this year. She's a believer.

10. She is relatable

She takes selfies and has fun just like everyone else. Kate doesn't think she is better than anyone else and can relate to her fans. She definitely isn't intimidating like some. From finding an epic pair of boots, to a fun new workout routine, or sharing a vacation, Kate is always taking us along for the ride.

These reasons are exactly why Kate Voegele should become your new favorite artist. If she's not on blasting from your speakers, she's definitely the best artist that you're not listening to.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
