Over the years, we have become accustomed to Kanye West saying outlandish things to the media. He's back at it again, but this time all over Twitter. Ever since his new album "The Life Of Pablo" has been released, Kanye has been wildly outspoken on Twitter and it seems like he needs some help.
We all know about Kanye's past incidents such as stating "George Bush hates black people" and his interruption of Taylor Swift in front of millions of viewers saying "Beyoncé had the best video of all time." Not much has changed. In recent tweets, he has talked about how he is $53 million in debt, asked Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for help, and said building schools for children in Africa is not helping. He said, "I'd rather teachers got paid more and and books cost less...#2020," implying that he wishes to run for president in the next election.
Whether this a publicity stunt for people to listen to his new album, or whether it is just Kanye being Kanye, something just seems off. After going on these daily rants, he'll often post a few positive tweets after he has bombarded our timelines with extreme pessimism. For example, "I'm happy and free and proud and confident. I'm not crazy. I'm free." Personally, I think there may be something going on with him mentally and may need someone else to facilitate his Twitter. He needs to get some professional help to break down his issues because he truly is an extremely intelligent artist. It just seems as if he tweets anything that comes into his brain and he does not care about the consequences.
As a fan of his music, "The Life of Pablo" is sonically pleasing, but somewhat all over the place. He has happier songs like "Ultra Light Beam," but he also has darker songs like "FML". The music encompasses a range of different emotions, as do his tweets. You have to give the man credit, he is not afraid to speak his mind, but sometimes certain statements are better left unsaid. He portrays this extremely cocky persona, while at the same time you can sense his vulnerability through what he tweets and sings. One line in the album that personifies the mystery that is Kanye comes from the song "Feedback": "Name one genius that ain't crazy." This simple line shows how confident he is, but also, I think, that he knows he is insecure.
Hopefully, Kanye takes some time off from Twitter and expresses his emotions to someone who can help him get his ideas across in a more appropriate manner. With that being said, he is clearly still capable of making phenomenal music. I think he is just extremely misunderstood. Maybe he will find his "God dream".
