So, this is my first article and I chose to write about someone that has been important in my life: Kanye West. I am a huge fan of rap music and Kanye West has been one of the most important artists of my generation. He has 21 Grammy Awards under his belt, a countless amount of records sold, a personality that you can't duplicate and Kim Kardashian as a wife. I have actually modeled certain facets of myself after Kanye's approach to music or general life. He is highly motivated and he never has a shortage of confidence.
When his seventh solo album, "The Life of Pablo," came out this past February, naturally I was excited and curious to see what direction he would take it in an artistic sense. Besides getting off to an interesting start by debuting the album at his own fashion show (a total Kanye West move), he hadn't even fully finished the album.
After hearing it, I was honestly perplexed by what I had heard. I had thought since his last album, "Yeezus," that he had began to decline musically. After listening to "TLOP" another time through, I realized that I did enjoy the album thoroughly. This album is sample-ridden per usual and has crazy features ranging from Frank Ocean, who hasn't made music in quite some time, to the 19-year-old kid named Desiigner who, thanks to Kanye, has a massive hit song that was used on the album called "Panda."
Getting to the tour, I am extremely excited about this tour, as I may be going to the Boston showing. His last tour, the "Yeezus Tour," was an extraordinary display of grandiose sets and awesome sounds. It was widely acclaimed as one of the best tours of the last few years. I cannot wait for this tour though. My biggest question is who will he bring on the tour with him or have do guest appearances? I'm hoping for Chance the Rapper, a fellow Chicago native who is talent-ridden and featured on the song "Ultralight Beam," or Desiigner, who signed to Kanye West's label G.O.O.D. Music.
Another question I have is what will the show look like? It would be hard to top the Yeezus Tour, but that's what Kanye West does best; growing as an artist.
All in all, I cannot wait for this tour. If I go to a show, then I will grab my "I Feel Like Pablo" shirt, go to Boston and hope that it is the greatest concert I will ever see. As I've been writing this, I've been listening to the album and I realized that Kanye has no choice but to have this tour be as good as the last one.
