Summer is here! It's time to drag out the beach balls, fishing rods, and sunscreen for some summer fun! First things first though, what is there to do in Wichita? Heck, what is there to do in Kansas? Well, surprisingly, a lot. Kansas sits in a unique portion of the US and is big enough to host some larger and more exciting events while the outlying cities around it have some cool stuff to see as well.
1. Sleep
Take the load off, you need to recoup from a semester's worth (or more) of lost sleep.
2. Camp
Kansas has lots of nature, so go find some and camp out!
3. Take a Drive
Kansas also has more road than just about anything else, so why not take advantage?
4. Museum Visit
The Museum of World Treasures, The Kansas Aviation Museum, and so many others lie within Kansas. Take advantage of them!
5. Cosmosphere
This museum in particular is special and definitely worth the drive out to Hutchinson!
6. Riverfest
It's always worth a once-over and it only happens once a year. If you're in the Wichita area, you should go!
7. Go see a show
The movie theater is expensive. I get it, especially when they replaced The Palace with a Cracker Barrel (of all things,) but there are other places. The Orpheum periodically has movies and other events for usually cheaper than Regal and AMC (the latter of which who apparently thinks that a 17 dollar pretzel isn't exorbitant.)
If movies aren't your thing, there's always the Music Theater of Wichita who always has something worth watching.
8. Take a walk
The Great Plains Nature Center is always gorgeous this time of year, and there are other parks out there that are just as beautiful.
9. Take a hike
If walking isn't enough, you can challenge yourself by hiking on some of the great trails just outside of Wichita!
10. Go to the lake
Kansas has lots of them. Lacking a beach, they're the next best thing, so pull out that sunscreen!
