Let's talk about Justin Bieber's new song "Lonely"

Whenever I listen to Justin Bieber's new release "Lonely" my heart breaks and I start to cry. You might think I am acting a little bit dramatic but if you have been a belieber since 2009 you are feeling the same way that I am when I listen to his new hit.

Having listened to his My World album in 2009 up to today's Changes album in 2020 it's astonishing how much he has grown into the mature young man he is today. "Lonely" is a clear indicator of what he has learned on his journey to becoming an adult. Watching the music video for "Lonely" one can realize that the boy is a resemblance to a younger version of Justin Bieber that is wearing his My World 2011 tour, white and purple outfit with his famous Bieber cut. The young boy is portrayed as just wanting to be a regular boy who could play hockey but is instead robbed of his childhood because his career as a musician took off. At the end of the music video young Justin Bieber stands in the middle of an enormous empty stage and it is revealed that the present-day Justin Bieber has been watching from the audience this entire time.

The music video portrays the idea that Just Bieber has now realized how lonely he was growing up in the spotlight and still is to this day. Being that he is looking back at his younger self it indicates that Justin Bieber is now starting to find his place and is realizing how he has felt throughout his entire life while growing up that maybe he did not realize back then.

And everybody saw me sick

And it felt like no one gave a shit

They criticized the things I did as an idiot kid

In the second verse of his song, Justin Bieber is referencing how he went through Lyme disease and people would make fun of his appearance when in reality he was sick. Justin Bieber's life has been on display ever since his rise to fame occurred back in 2009 and with his entire life out in the public that was the consequence of rising to stardom at such a young age that he realizes. Even with the biggest fan base that he has had all this time he felt the most alone during these vulnerable times because he felt like he did not really have anyone by his side. Further, as Justin Bieber was growing up he took drugs and took part in illegal activity and he was always criticized harshly by the public eye for his every move and that can really take a toll on a teenager growing up.

As Beliebers we loved Justin Bieber, we adored him and would do anything for him but if we start to realize it is our love and support that brought him to fame and that hurt him it makes me sad. It is upsetting that he has felt this the entire time that he was just putting up a facade of who he was for all of us even his fans and we never realized it. Justin Bieber has always given his love and support for his beliebers and we have always wished to do the same but it was not enough.

Not only has Justin Bieber been a victim to the consequences of fame at such a young age and felt alone but also fellow stars such as Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and other famous musicians and celebrities suffered from the same issues. It goes to show that these celebrities are exposed to the media every second of their life but we do not realize the effects that it can have on them. We love seeing pictures of celebrities outside and new gossip but we never realize the direct affect that it has on them and it is something we need to be more aware of. Nobody should go through life feeling like they have nobody and feel like they lost who they were as a person especially Justin Bieber because we love him. We all deserve love and support and should never go through anything alone no matter who you are.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
