“In any story, the villain is the catalyst. The hero's not a person who will bend the rules or show the cracks in his armor. He's one-dimensional intentionally, but the villain is the person who owns up to what he is and stands by it.” - Marilyn Manson
What is the socially accepted definition for the term “Hero”? One who commits valor, striving through courageous feats and lucid morals, on the grounds of human preservation. That’s a hero. The person that emerges victorious through the burning ashes of ruble and dust, fighting for the last spec of hope. That’s a hero. But where there is good there is bad. It is the yin-yang effect. The two sides constantly clashing. Both storming into the war with their metaphoric arms of destruction prepared to take each other on. Leading this anti-good storm troopers through the gates of treason and crimes are the villains. Yet we now live in a society where, if crimes or any wrongdoings are punished, our heroes are the ones that face the backlash of an overtly sensitive society.
There is a phrase in Latin. “Cogitationis poenam nemo patitur” which means No one suffers punishment for mere intent. Why should punishments be determined on the basis of who that person is, rather than the severity of the crime.Take for example the case of the Stanford Rapist, Brock Turner. At this very moment he does not deserve the right to be walking around a free man. Yet our justice system has grown to release non deserving criminals due to their family's social standing. Also to cover their decisions they lay these pathways made of excuses. Excuse being that this kind of punishment shall ruin his swimming career! I mean really! Did Mr. Turner, think about the future of this young lady, who's life he has just scarred. Justice is not about being a hero or a villain but standing beside what is right over wrong. When those who are supposed to do right by those who have survived such atrocities are the people that side with those who are wrong, there is no point in believing in the good. When the whole humanitarian race is standing up against one criminal and all of his lies that should mean that justice has been denied.
So it has come to raise a voice against those who pretend to be the protectors of the law and salute those who, even though have no obligation to do so, have fought for what is right. Fought for allowing good to prevail.
